Twelve Songs is a magnificent album. Memorable tracks as Tellin’ Secrets, Burnin’ Lies and In These Rooms leave you spiritually renewed. What Happened To Me, Surrender and twelve step anthem Reach will tempt you to blast the speakers. Twelve Songs is rich in concept, and each song stands on its own. Mary Lyn stays true to each step without compromising for public appeal. This CD is a definite must for any twelve stepper who enjoys music.

Twelve Songs is a new CD of music, inspired by recovery through the twelve steps, with each song uniquely relating to a corresponding step. Written and performed by Mary Lyn B., this CD will inspire anyone in recovery and is sure to bring strength and encouragement to everyone. The music on Twelve Songs encompasses humor (I Won’t Do That), intimacy (Tellin' Secrets, Burnin' Lies), sacrifice (Go To Any Length), and fun and encouragement (Reach). There’s even a beautiful instrumental, Inside the Silence, allowing time to listen and reflect on your own thoughts and feelings. With the twelve steps as her north star, Mary Lyn’s journey of recovery is now reflected in twelve songs that will appeal to anyone at any stage of recovery.

This is the CD that started it all. When I started my quest to find recovery music, I searched the Internet and found this CD. Skeptical at first, I thought I would find it full of amateurish songs thrown together by “one of us.” What a surprise! From the moment I received this CD, I have been amused and inspired by its songs. Many of the songs on this CD have been my favorite only to be edged out by another.

When I ordered this music CD I was hoping for a little entertainment to help pass some time. From the first song I was captured. This album tells a story. The story is not about losing a job, a wife or big Ford trucks. It’s a story about finding something big, the path to finding Serenity, Spirituality, Fellowship and Freedom, one step (or song) at a time. I started by buying one CD for this review and have since ordered three more for family and friends. This is a great gift for anyone involved in recovery and the twelve steps. Thank You Mary Lyn B. for your contribution to our recovery.

As the motivational track coordinator at Hope Center Recovery Program for Women, serving homeless or marginally housed drug addict or alcoholic women, my goal is to provide hope in any way possible. Music is a wonderful tool for my ladies and they are really enjoying listening to the CDs you donated. Many of them have no family support through this process and your CD has really touched them. You are a blessing to my clients. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness.

This weekend I attended the IAAWC in Las Vegas and had the great privilege to hear Mary Lyn perform in person. Hearing her music was one of the highlights of the conference for me. I had to run right to the gift shop and buy a copy of Twelve Songs. I have been listening to the songs over and over, and I am finding a great deal of encouragement from the words. As a lover of country music, I was especially delighted that many of the twelve songs fit in my favorite musical genre. Thank you Mary Lyn for putting this together for us in recovery.

I have so enjoyed the Twelve Songs CD. I recently went through some health issues and I was unable to get to meetings. Listening to the CD helped lift my spirits. I am so grateful for this CD.

The Twelve Songs CD has inspired me in so many ways. When I listened to step one, I had been sober for 17 1/2 yrs and had relapsed on pain meds. The very first song, What Happened To Me, got to my soul and helped me surrender and begin my sobriety over. All twelve songs have inspired me in some way. Reach encourages me to keep carrying the message. After all, you can't keep it if you don't give it away. I could go on and on about each song 'cause it so relates to the struggles of working the steps. These songs keep me motivated!!!

I got sober in California in '85. I moved to Tennessee in '99 and have been DJ ing dances out here for two years. My brother still lives in California and sent me your CD. I play it at dances and people are blown away with the content. Thank you!

I loved your CD and I listened to it for eight hours on a trip! I tried to envision what you must have gone through during that black time in your life. You were fortunate to find a way out. I gave my copy to a friend whose daughter has a drinking problem. They have tried intervention. Nothing is working. I'm hoping she will listen to your CD and maybe relate to it. You never know what could trigger her to get help. If ONE person changes their life because of your music, it affects the whole family. We are so happy that in the scheme of things someone was watching over you. Life can be good!

What a joy to hear your compositions to and from the beach where I walk/run; So rare to have your talent. I'm telling all my North San Diego fellowship buddies about this CD!

I am a 12 stepper via another door. My fellowship is Compulsive Eaters Anonymous HOW concept. There are many in our fellowship who are cross addicted and active members of AA as well as CEA HOW. We suffer from the same addictive personalities and the 12 Steps are our path to recovery. We simply substitute the word "food" for "alcohol." Otherwise, we identify absolutely. I found you through a link from AA don't know exactly how I got there, but God had a plan. I listened to your CD and you have a lovely voice and style. Not to mention the beauty and the truth in the words of your songs. I wish you the best for all time.

Just saw you live in Poway truly moved and impressed. I loved your energy and your cause. You inspire me to pick up my guitar again!!! Thanks!

Twelve Songs is an absolute must hear for those in recovery and working with others, especially newcomers. Twelve Songs puts to music the action we must take in order to stay sober. Through the God given talents of Mary Lyn B., unleashed in recovery, we have yet another tool (music) in our tool box of recovery. The message to REACH, the no nonsense of GO TO ANY LENGTH tug at the heart of the REAL alcoholic in a way that only the lyrics of one of us can. In Twelve Songs you will find the heart of the AA message expressed in a way soothing to the soul as well as the ear. May God bless Mary Lyn B. for sharing her message of recovery with us and hope for others through this inspired and magical medium of music expressed so lovingly in Twelve Songs.

I have almost worn this CD out! I keep it playing in my car on the way to or home from work, non stop. If I get irritable or discontent during the day, I go to the car and listen as I give it to God. This CD has been a major part of my recovery, and what a lovely voice to be lifted from the mire with! Thank you so much, Mary!!

I heard your CD at the Soberfest in Connecticut. Your music was being broadcast across the festival before the bands went on stage. It was so moving that it stopped me in my tracks. I asked a musician from Selfish Steam what was playing and he showed me your CD cover and told me about 12StepRadio.com. Looking forward to listening to your music again and maybe meeting you someday. God bless!

I was fortunate to be able to see you perform at the Poway Alano Club. I listen to your CD every day and truly relate to all the songs you have written. I am new to the program and have had a drinking and drug addiction for the past 20 years. I am now working on my sobriety and just want to thank you for your wonderful music. I am purchasing ten more CDs because I think they are the best gift I could give to someone who is struggling to make the right choices in life, like myself. Thanks for your gift of music and your inspiration!

Today is my 25th anniversary in AA. I am profoundly grateful for all the people in every twelve step program all over the world and humbled by the power of the loving and gracious god who found me. The steps and traditions continue to teach me a way of living that transforms me. Today I have peace, joy, power and hope. How truly lovely to find this site and order your CD as a special birthday treat!

Mary Lyn, Today I received the CD. It is great. I saw a link to your site on the Recovery Emporium. I really related to the 4th step song remembering doing some of those same things. I also cried at the beautiful music for the 11 step. This is truly an inspired CD. I will be sure to tell my friends about it and refer them to your site. I do intend to be ordering more CD's. What a great AA anniversary gift to be able to share with others in recovery. I am also an alcoholic, sober since 1/29/90

My favorite song is I Won't Do That. I have been telling my sponsor about that song (and everyone else) since I heard it on 12stepradio.com. Thank you Mary Lyn; this is just exactly what some of us needed and I will be watching for more songs from you and hope that someday those of us in Portland, Oregon will get the honor of hearing you live.

I listened to Twelve Songs at a women's retreat and fell in love with the music and the message. When I listened to the third song, I was overcome with emotion and I fell in love with my creator all over again. Then I laughed my head off on the fourth song. What a range of emotions you have touched in me. I am going to use Twelve Songs as a tool with my sponsees as they go through the steps. I am also a drug and alcohol counselor and carry the message in a treatment center and I am going to use your music to help carry the message. I am drawn to page 164 of the Big Book. You have made this statement true for me: "We shall be with you in the fellowship of the spirit, and you will surely meet some of us as you trudge the Road to Happy Destiny. May God bless you and keep you until then."

I was given a copy of your CD by a woman I was sponsoring. She was moving away and it was a gift to remember her by. I love every song on the CD and I get chills when I listen to it. I am so glad you gave yourself the chance to return to the program and grow. I know our music and your personal story will reach other people and spread the message.

After having several months of a "very dry drunk." I knew I was in too deep to get myself out alone. I started surfing the net and found several sites that inspired me to get my a _ _ in gear. Your CD was mentioned, so I gave a listen to the samples and liked what I heard! "Tis the season" and I will be alone on the road for a long and difficult trip home. I think your tunes will be a big part of my journey. Thanks.

Just got home from a trip to Oceanside to visit with my son and his family. I had a great trip. Partly because going and coming back I listened to your CD. It was very good and certainly had me in a good mood and grateful that I too have found this new way of life. I have 18 years now and each year I love sobriety more!! Thanks for the wonderful songs - I will pass the work along to my friends.
 Diane

I received the two CDs you mailed me. I am planning on ordering ten additional CDs to give to friends in the fellowship. My wife (Al Anon) listened to her copy of your CD on the way to work this morning and called to tell me how much she liked it. She got up song #8 while sitting in Norfolk traffic! I got up to song #5 before my meeting and liked everyone of them.
Take care,

I got your Twelve Songs CD about a month ago and I feel compelled to let you know what power your music has had in my life. God blessed you with a gift. Please never put your music down! God Bless and have a wonderful day.

I received your CD yesterday. I am so happy. Your songs just fill my spirit.

Your CD arrived today at work and I went and stuck it straight into the CD player in the car. Track 1 and I was almost in tears, and me a Kiwi Bloke too (I don't like to think of myself as a sensitive new age guy). This will be such a great tool for recovery. Thank you so very much.
Kind regards.

Thank you Thank You Thank You. I absolutely LOVE Twelve Songs. I ordered the CD just from reading the words online. I am not usually a country music type of girl but I do listen to it on occasion. The songs are outstanding and the melodies are so appropriate. Thanks again for giving back what was so freely given to you.

I have had your CD now for three days and still tear up with a gratitude unlimited when I hear and feel the song, What Happened to Me. You did such a fantastic job of telling in a general way what we all were like, what happened, and what we are like now. If anyone can listen to that song and not have a grapefruit sized lump in their throats, I can not imagine it. All the songs are tremendous, yet my three favorites are, of course, What Happened to Me, 90 Meetings in 90 Days, and In These Rooms!
Great stuff, keep on keeping on, Mary Lyn.

I really enjoyed your CD. Each song is unique and very fitting for someone in recovery. Keep up the good work Mary Lyn. We need inspirational people such as you to accompany us on this journey.

I received your CD and shared your note with my home group on Friday night. I wanted to share the message with everyone but especially the newcomers that you are not alone anymore and where else but in A.A. can you make friends with someone you have never met. What a gift. We would love for you to come to our retreat some year. Thanks again for everything and God Bless!

Hey Mary Lyn, The CD is awesome. I love your voice and the band behind it. Everyone wants to ride with me now to listen to the songs. I have two daughters that are 8 and 11 and they always want me to play it. They almost know every word to every song. Thanks so much for the inspiration. It could not have come at a better time. As always, God working.
Much love in sobriety,
